COVID-19: OPERATIONAL UPDATES

03/10/2021

This is not business as usual as the landscape is changing minute by minute. We are working closely with our business partners to mitigate major disruptions to our clients' supply chains. We will provide updates as they become available.

The Aries Global Agent Network remains active and very responsive. In the rare cases they are not, we have a list of backups that we have started to work with in those areas.

Some carriers are implementing an Emergency Surcharge. If you’re looking for the best value, make sure the carrier has not started adding this extra charge.

  • Air Freight – this is the area where we see the most change. Rates have increased dramatically, and space is limited. We are getting daily updates from both airports and airlines concerning schedule changes and available capacity. In some cases, domestic cargo capacity has been reduced by as much as 68%. Because of this, airlines are suggesting booking cargo flights at least two weeks ahead of time.
  • Ocean Freight – is experiencing some minor delays, mostly due to personnel scale-backs and skeleton crews at ports all over the US.

Rest of the world Overall, we see a significant reduction in air traffic and cancelled passenger flights which considerably affects the air cargo capacity and thus rates. Presently, the most affected destinations in the APAC region appears to be Korea and Japan.
