Meet Nikhil Nawaz

Aries has a strong focus on being an information company first, which means technology is at the forefront of how we function as a company. In addition, Aries continually strives to make it easier for customers to get the information they want, and technology plays an important role in accomplishing that.

The Aries technology department is led by Nikhil Nawaz, who has been with the company since 2012. When asked how he got started in the industry, he said “ I got my degree in electrical engineering but started working at Aries as my first job out of college in a small role as a software administrator for a new TMS software we purchased with very little knowledge of the freight industry. Throughout the years, I’ve learned a great deal regarding freight forwarding and logistics and worked my way up to Business Technology Manager. Now, I help guide the business forward from a technology perspective.” On his days off, you can find Nikhil traveling or doing landscape photography although day-to-day he enjoys gaming and reading science-fiction or fantasy books.

Aries IT From the Inside Out

This year, Nikhil plans to expand the IT department to provide more robust integration services to our customers. It is imperative that Aries stays up to date with the latest technologies such as AI, which Nikhil believes will provide better insight into Aries customers and take our services to the next level.

Preparing for the growing presence of AI in the logistics industry, Nikhil and his team have started research and training on new technologies with a plan to roll out a working implementation later this year. Advancements in AI will have a great impact on how Aries operates our business in the near future, so it is vital that we have a knowledgeable and intellectually curious IT department.

When building the technology team at Aries, Nikhil says “One of the most important qualities I look for in people is the desire for continuous education and growth. In my department, I try to promote an open environment where people are free to explore their interests and lead projects in those areas.” He even says, “My whole team has been instrumental in getting us to where we are today. Everyone is ready and willing to support and build whatever is needed to help Aries succeed in our goals.”
